Hillsong

Just got back from church. WOW.

Wow. Wow. Wow. Wow. Wow. Wow.

Haven't been to church this exciting in a long long time. Church
They've got it in the Dominion theater, where does play the Rock Musical about Freddy Mercury called 'We will rock you."

Guest speaker Sy Rogers brought a hard hitting yet insightful message on the character of God:

  • He's Mysterious. On purpose. He has to be found, and in order to find Him, we've got to look. "He's not all tied up in His own insecurities, 'Oh, no, if I don't put lots of fireworks in the the sky with my name on them, they might not believe I exist!'"

  • His thought's and ways are higher than ours. Deal with it. God can be completely unpredictable and as C.s. Lewis put it, "wild". "He's got crazy animals with eyes all over them, sitting next to his throne. What're they doing there?" But just because we can't understand Him, doesn't mean we can't trust Him. We can know that God has our best interests at heart (though it might not feel like it) and we can trust that His character is Good.

  • God is to Blame. God allows bad things to happen. He allows good things to happen. Sometimes he gives us a house and then lets it burn down next week.

  • But God is responsible. God put us here, he allows us to make bad choices, he allows other people to make other bad choices. But God's said, "Look, I don't want to be right about you being wrong, so I'm just going to take the blame on myself, and let you off because I love you, and I want you back.

I really, really enjoyed the worship, and I can't wait to take my family (and anyone else who'd like to come). I've got the email for a small group nearby, so I'm gonna see if I can get plugged in there.

Off to find some food.

Cheers,
Brad
